Cheersday Privacy Policy

Publication date: November 6, 2026

This update explains version-specific controls and a planned account-deletion protection change. The new retained protection record is not active. We will announce its effective date before activation.

El Tostado LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) built Cheersday as a free, ad-supported app with an optional in-app purchase. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

Previous policy: August 1, 2026 (archived).

Information We Collect

Account Information

Getting Started can create an automatically generated Firebase account without asking for an email address. That account has a unique identifier; its celebration records are not anonymous. If you register or sign in using an email address and password, Firebase Authentication processes those credentials for sign-in and account recovery.

Birthday Data

You can add birthday and occasion records, participant details, custom celebration labels, reminders and personal greeting templates. Birthday entries can include:

  • Names and birth dates of people you want to remember
  • Optional email addresses for greeting delivery
  • Optional phone numbers
  • Optional mailing addresses
  • Optional photos
  • Relationship categories
  • Greeting messages and greeting history

This data is stored securely in Google Firebase and is associated with your account.

Device Contacts

If you choose to import birthdays from your phone contacts, we access your device’s contact list temporarily to display importable entries. We only store the birthday information you explicitly select to import. We do not upload your full contact list to our servers.

Notifications

Cheersday uses local notifications for configured birthday and occasion reminders, subject to device permission and operating-system behavior. You can adjust reminders in the app and device settings. Notifications and home-screen widgets may reveal celebration information to someone viewing your device.

Optional Usage Analytics and Advertising

In the reviewed Cheersday 1.9.0 configuration, optional Firebase usage analytics is off by default and can be changed in Settings. The choice is device-local and separate from advertising. Application event parameters are designed to exclude names, birth dates, contact details and greeting text, but Analytics may still involve SDK identifiers and device information. These records should not be described as anonymous merely because no name is included.

Turning optional analytics off blocks further application event logging and attempts to save the choice and disable native Analytics collection. If an error appears, use Retry last choice. A storage or native-SDK failure can leave withdrawal incomplete; changing the choice does not itself erase provider-held information. Earlier app versions and previously saved SDK settings may behave differently.

Advertising is disabled in the reviewed 1.9.0 test configuration. The planned banner integration uses Unity LevelPlay with Unity Ads. We will verify and describe enabled providers, information used, purposes and applicable privacy choices before enabling advertising for 1.9.0. Older app versions do not acquire the new controls automatically; contact support about your version. This description does not establish that every integrated SDK makes no requests before the app starts.

An ad-removal purchase removes advertisements where that entitlement is supported. It is not an opt-out from optional usage analytics or every other service/SDK. Price and availability are shown by the applicable store; removing ads is not a promise that all SDK data collection stops.

In-App Purchases

We offer a one-time in-app purchase to remove advertisements. Purchase transactions are processed by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment information. We verify purchase validity through Google Play’s servers to prevent fraud.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the birthday calendar and reminder functionality
  • To authenticate your account and enable data sync across devices
  • To send birthday reminder notifications you’ve configured
  • To deliver and manage advertisements
  • To verify in-app purchases

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) servers. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase Authentication. Your ad-free purchase status is also stored locally on your device for offline access.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Google Firebase: For data storage, authentication, and cloud functions
  • Unity LevelPlay/Unity Ads: Planned advertising provider for the reviewed 1.9.0 integration, currently disabled there. Earlier versions may have different components and controls. We will describe the providers, information and controls for any future enabled advertising configuration before activating it.
  • Google Play: For purchase verification

These third-party services have their own privacy policies governing how they use data. We encourage you to review:

Your Rights and Choices

  • Delete your account: Use the account/data deletion option in Settings or contact support for help without the app. The supported process removes live account content, associated Cheersday purchase claims/records and the sign-in identity. A failed or interrupted request may be incomplete; separate provider records and the planned protection record are explained below.
  • Disable notifications: Turn off notifications in your device settings at any time
  • Advertising choices depend on the enabled provider, version and region. Device privacy controls are separate from the optional usage analytics choice. The reviewed 1.9.0 advertising integration remains disabled.
  • Remove advertisements: Where supported, the ad-free entitlement removes ads. It does not disable every SDK or erase information already held by a provider.
  • Contact import: You can choose not to grant contacts permission; the app functions fully without it
  • Data portability/access (EU/EEA users): You may request a copy of your data by contacting us
  • Right to erasure (EU/EEA users): You may request deletion of your data by using the in-app account deletion feature or by contacting us
  • California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Children’s Privacy

Cheersday is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Account Deletion and Planned Protection Record

Automatically generated accounts can be deleted while you retain access to their session. For help without the app, use https://eltostadollc.com/cheersday-account-deletion or support@eltostadollc.com. We must establish ownership before acting; an email address alone may not identify an automatically generated account. Clearly request partial-data deletion if you want selected records removed while keeping the account. Do not send passwords, payment details, purchase tokens or unnecessary celebration content.

We plan to retain a limited server-only record to help prevent delayed account-preparation or billing requests from reopening deleted accounts. It will contain only a cryptographic hash derived from the account identifier, a record version and deletion status, with no raw identifier, name, email, purchase token, order identifier or celebration content. It is pseudonymous, not anonymous; it can be linked to a known identifier. It will have no automatic expiry, and we will review whether continued retention remains necessary. It will not be used for advertising or recovering celebration content. This new retained-record practice is not active; its effective date will be announced before activation following the staged transition review.

An upload already in progress can finish after initial cleanup and require additional cleanup. A successful deletion response acknowledges configured stages, not an independent audit of every stored object. No fixed time for delayed cleanup is promised. Local device cleanup is attempted after confirmed server success and can also fail. Account deletion does not refund or cancel a store purchase, recall information shared through another app, or automatically erase every operational log or provider-held record.

We aim to acknowledge support requests within three business days and complete them within 30 calendar days of receipt, subject to an applicable earlier deadline. We explain verification delays rather than silently restarting the clock. We keep the minimum working record while a request is open, review unresolved requests every 30 days, and remove operational request records and form/email copies under our control within 90 days after closure, except for a documented restricted preservation obligation with a review or end date. Provider-held recovery copies may have different handling. Our website host does not guarantee snapshot availability, retention or reapplication of deletions after restoration; restoration is not permission to resume using deleted information.

Changes to This Policy

We will identify approved revisions by their publication and effective dates and explain material changes. Updated supported clients can display an informational notice; older, offline and anonymous clients may not receive it automatically. A website or store announcement is not proof that every user received or read a notice. Dismissing a notice does not enable analytics or advertising, and continued use is not treated here as permission for every new processing purpose.
